Random content may be generated in a plethora of different ways. Content may be stored in a database and selected at random. Click here for an example.

Similarly content may be created at runtime by the script itself, either by using hard-coded PHP or selecting random information from a database (See below for an example).

This simple script uses a random list of names, adjectives, objects and animals to create a sentence. The same principle can be used for many different applications.
